What are wikis?  Wikis are easy-to-use websites that anyone can create and edit. Click here to view an introductory video on TeacherTube.

  • improved formatting, now has spell check 

  • not much variety with templates

  • you cannot insert special characters (for example, no accent marks available for foreign languages)

 

 

 

Wikispaces

  • has a discussion tab

  • easy-to-use

  • limited number of ad-free (for no cost) wikis available for educators

  • allows you to insert accent marks

  • comes with ads (but as an educator, you can have them removed)

 

Wetpaint

  • harder to customize the format once you've selected a template

  • comes with ads

  • does not allow students under age 13 to register

 

Google Sites

  • ad-free from the start

  • easy to add google plug-ins

  • wide variety of templates

  • can type in two columns

  • anyone can view the site, but you need to individually invite them in order for them to make edits

  • you have more flexibility adding google tools than non-google tools
